A Man From Illinois Crowned Poker World Champion

John Cynn, who is now 33-year-old, is a professional poker player from Illinois. Recently he emerged as the new World Series of Poker Main Event champion, while playing a tournament with a starting field of 7,874. Winning the tournament, he won the prize amount of $8.8 million.

Cynn, who is young but sharp with mind outlasted Tony Miles in a 10-hour, 199-hand marathon heads-up session last week with 11 lead changes.

During the final hand, Cynn had K-J suited in hand to Miles’ Q-8 suited. With the K-K-5 flop Cynn got three kings that held up against Miles’ eventual two pair. He finished second in the game and pocketed $5 million as the runner up prize amount.
Cynn is extremely excited after this win.

It is reported the authorities have filed the permit to change the name of SLS Las Vegas to Grand Sahara Resort. According to SLS for now, it is only a “working name”, but given previously, the SLS was the Sahara and the fresh owners have a casino called Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, the new name makes sense.
